Nowadays, coal remains an important role in the global energy sector where the Russian coal industry retains one of the largest and most reliable suppliers of this resource
At the end of 2022 the total amount of mined coal amounted to 442 mt which,
despite of all expectations, slightly exceeded the volumes of the previous year

Thermal coal production decreased to 2% Y-0-Y basis (348,4 mt in 2021 to 342 mt in 2022 ).
Growth of the total production was due to the increase in met coal production ~ 10,5% Y-O-Y basis. In 2022 it was mined 100 mt and 89,6 mt in 2021
According to the results of the last year, Kuzbass turned out to be the leader in production, making a total amount 223,66 mt where 158 mt was thermal coal and 65,5 met coal. However, this turned out to be less for 8% Y-0-Y basis (171,4 mt and 71,7 mt).
At the end of last year, volumes of export decreased by 8% y-o-y basis and amounted ~ 21 mt. In return,
domestic consumption increased by 7%
